Rainbow Arts Collective supports LGBTQIA+ artists in a variety of artistic disciplines to strengthen connections across the state and create spaces and opportunities for Maine’s queer arts community and the public.
About Us:
River Nation
River (they/he) is co-founder and Primary Organizer of Rainbow Arts Collective. River is a local artist who has operated their online store, ThisIsRNation, since 2015, making clothes, accessories and art prints. Originally from Alabama, they graduated with a degree in biology in 2016 and found their new home in Portland, ME in 2019. They worked as a chemist for the past 5 years, while still participating in art events when time allowed.
Shelby Arnold
Shelby (they/them) is a Board Member of Rainbow Arts Collective. Shelby’s crafting experience covers a wide range, from paper crafts and needle felting to 3D modeling and electronics. They love sharing knowledge and learning new things as a member of the Queer Craft Club community!
elm root
elm root (they/them) is Board President of Rainbow Arts Collective. elm is a patchwork quilt of all of their favorite humans, places, and activities. they are a youth services librarian and a trans- and disability-centered massage therapist. in their free time, they enjoy reading, fiber arts, watching trashy tv, and playing cozy games. if given the option, they would like to become a river troll who lives in a mushroom cottage with their friends where they all make art together.
Jaime Wing
Jaime (he/him) is a Board Member of Rainbow Arts Collective. Jaime is an artist printmaker based in Portland, Maine, as well as a board member of the RAC. He is an active member of Pickwick Independent Press and the Maine Crafts Association. Jaime has over 15 years of printmaking experience, and specializes in relief and letterpress techniques.
Corey Westleigh
Corey (any pronouns) is Board Treasurer of Rainbow Arts Collective.
